🚢✨ On 21st June, the historic Norwegian vesse 🚢✨ On 21st June, the historic Norwegian vessel M/S Gamle Oksøy will arrive in Lowestoft and will be open to the public for visits, offering a rare opportunity to step aboard a true working piece of lighthouse heritage ✨🚢

🌍 This visit forms part of the European Route of Lighthouses a growing international community dedicated to sharing lighthouse history, maritime culture, and cross-border collaboration. The route aims to preserve lighthouse heritage, explore sustainable futures for these iconic sites, and inspire people to travel and experience lighthouses across Europe.

⚓ Gamle Oksøy was built in 1962 in Haugesund, Norway, serving the Norwegian Coastal Administration as a lighthouse supply and maintenance vessel, delivering fuel and supporting navigation aids along the coast until 1996. Today, she has been transformed into a floating museum and cultural platform, showcasing Norway’s rich maritime and lighthouse heritage.

🧭 During her visit to Lowestoft, visitors can explore onboard exhibitions, attend talks, and take part in shore-based activities celebrating lighthouse culture and maritime history.

🚴‍♂️ Happy World Bicycle Day! 🚴‍♀️
Today we’re celebrating all things cycling — and especially the incredible effort of Ed Peppitt, South East representative for the Association of Lighthouse Keepers, AKA The Beacon Bike who took on an unforgettable challenge for a great cause.

Ed cycled the length and breadth of Britain to raise funds for MS — raising awareness and support for those affected by multiple sclerosis while pushing himself mile after mile along the UK’s roads and coastlines.

From winding coastal routes to long inland stretches, it was more than just a ride — it was a powerful demonstration of determination, community spirit, and support for a vital cause.

Well done, Ed and everyone who supported the ride!
