Association of Lighthouse Keepers

Gift Aid

Gift Aid applies only to UK taxpayers

Make your subscriptions worth nearly a third more, at no extra cost to you!

If you are a UK taxpayer your subscription will be worth almost a third more to the Association if you sign the Gift Aid Declaration on the membership application form.

And it wonít cost you a penny!

Gift aid allows the ALK to reclaim the tax you have already paid on your subscription.  We can reclaim 28p from the taxman for every £1 you have given since we received charitable status, and for every £1 in the future.

If all our members complete the Declaration, we could reclaim hundreds of pounds to help the Association.

Important Gift Aid Declaration Notice

  • Please notify the ALK if you change your name or address while the declaration is still in force.
  • You must pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax that the ALK and other charities reclaim on your subscriptions in the tax year (currently 28p each £1 you give).
  • You may cancel the declaration at any time by notifying the Treasurer and we will cease to reclaim tax from your subscriptions.
  • If you pay tax at the higher rate, you can claim further tax relief in your Self-Assessment tax return.
Iíve already completed a Declaration for another charity.  Do I need to complete another one for the ALK?

Yes!  You have to complete a separate form for each charity you want to benefit from Gift Aid.  Signing a Declaration for the ALK will not affect any existing Declaration(s) you may have made in any way.  It simply enables the ALK to take advantage of the change in tax law too.

Will returning this Declaration really make a difference?

Yes!  It really does make an enormous difference.  For example each £1 subscribed or donated by you will be worth £1.28.  On a donation of £10, this will mean an extra £2.80 for the ALK.

If you have any further queries or need further details, please contact the Treasurer

Thank you so much for your support.
