Members should be aware that the Association of Lighthouse Keepers (ALK) complies with the Data Protection Act 1998 and is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office as required by law. Membership information is kept solely for the purpose of maintaining a Membership Register in order to ascertain whether or not a member is up to date with their subscription, and a full postal address for mailing out the quarterly journal LAMP. In addition, when advised to us by a member, a current email address and phone number is also recorded so that members may be contacted about any urgent ALK matters relating to membership status or to events run by the ALK. This information is not used for any other purpose and will not be shared with any business or organisation outside the ALK. In common with other organisations who maintain a membership register, unless the Membership Secretary is specifically requested in writing to exclude all or part of their membership details, it will be assumed that consent is given to an entry being kept on the membership register. Full details of all the information held on a particular, current member will be made available to that member who, in writing to the Membership Secretary, can demonstrate a bona fide reason for requesting the information. Information on other members will not be disclosed to anyone without their explicit permission being sought and obtained.
